ABB Distribution Unit
This distribution unit, designed for ABB, contains the electrical control systems for the home. An understated design, which nevertheless reflects the company's core values and was feasible within a design process with little room for manoeuvre.
In the design process, my primary focus was on developing an identity that aligns with ABB's values and, subsequently, the design of the housing. The technical concept of the system were a given.
These products are intended for the European market, where they are usually placed in a cupboard, but in countries such as France they can also be mounted on the wall in the hallway where they are more visible.
The units have a simple, durable appearance. They can be used with a door in the colour of the housing or in a transparent version. Depending on the number of switches, the units have different sizes and can be stacked and connected to each other.
